Life Saved #3002

On October 25th, 2024, a 65-year-old woman choked on Frito’s resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was not followed as LifeVac was self-administered. LifeVac removed the obstruction on its second use. The woman describes the incident as follows:

“I tend to choke easily (had the Heimlich four times), so LifeVac was made for me! I’m so appreciative and am doing great! I felt very comfortable using the LifeVac, and grateful I had repeatedly practiced over a few months, so I knew exactly what to do. It took two plunges, and I was fine. Not only could I do it myself (although my terrified friend was with me at the time – and she might have been able to do the Heimlich), it didn’t clobber my ribs! The last time I had the Heimlich, my ribs were in so much pain I had to go to the doctor and get pain meds. I was miserable – but not complaining, as I was alive! LifeVac spared my life – and my ribs.”
