Life Saved #3065

On November 5th, 2024, a 6-year-old girl choked on a lollipop resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac removed the obstruction on its second use. The child’s mother describes the incident as follows:

“We bought LifeVac in November of 2021 for our twin toddlers. We have always kept it in our living room couch armchair, and knew exactly where it was; it sat untouched until yesterday. My daughter was enjoying a Halloween sucker after school and the sucker broke in half in her mouth. She came to me and quietly said I swallowed something. At first, we didn’t think it was blocking because she was crying and breathing. After assessing her, she stopped crying. Her face began to get red and she was not taking in air and could not cough anymore; it was clear things got worse. We began back blows. At that time I called 911 and my husband and another adult in the home worked together. My husband grabbed the LifeVac and the other adult held her head still and with two plunges the sucker came shooting out; part went flying and part was inside the device. She was back to breathing before I even had our full address out to the dispatch! The fire department did follow up, check her out, and do her vitals and she is okay! We are so thankful we made the purchase! I even work at a preschool and went in today and advocated that we go about getting one! We can’t thank LifeVac enough for existing and quickly saving her! She is 100% okay and back to her outgoing and loving self! She very boldly declared “I am never having a sucker again that scared my life”
