Life Saved #3521 in Iowa

On February 6th, 2025 a 2-year-old girl choked on a grape causing a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the food on its first attempt! The child’s father described the incident as follows:

“Our daughter had grabbed a large grape while they were being sliced. She ate it and soon began choking. The Heimlich and back slaps were performed without success. She was panicked and was pushing the LifeVac away at first. We then laid her on the floor with her arms restricted. One strong placement and pull and LifeVac was successful in dislodging and bringing the grape fully out of her mouth. We are so thankful for LifeVac. Needless to say, we were all very shaken up following the incident. Just 30 seconds of panic seems like an eternity. Our daughter was shaken up but recovered just fine with lots of snuggles following. I have gone for the LifeVac a few times but never actually needed it. I’ve practiced to get a feel of how to create a good seal and press the mask down while pulling the handle. It performed flawlessly. My wife posted about it on social media and counted 8 people who subsequently ordered or committed to ordering one. Thanks again!”
