Life Saved #3555

On February 13th, 2025 a 3-year-old girl choked on a grape causing a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the food on its second attempt.  The child’s father described the incident as follows:

“We thought we would never need to use it but we’re SO happy we had it when we did. The Heimlich maneuver was performed but was not successful. My daughter was still sitting in her chair so I decided to push it up against the wall so it wouldn’t tip backwards when I applied the mask (not sure if this was the right thing to do but I didn’t want her to aspirate/vomit or anything when I used the Life Vac). It was very easy to get a good seal and after two attempts it cleared her airway and she let out a massive scream which brought so much happiness to us! My wife was on the phone with 911 and the medics did still come by to check her out. They (the paramedics) wanted to see what I used and were happy to see that it was a LifeVac because that’s what they were going to use anyways to help save her life. They said they recommend one to every family. I spread the word around my circle and had a few friends jump online to purchase one after they heard my story. My daughter is doing amazing now, no other complications. She is officially only eating cut grapes from here on out!
