1 · Place
Place the appropriate-sized mask over the nose and mouth, creating a good seal.
2 · Push
While holding the mask in place, use your other hand to push the handle down.
3 · Pull
Without breaking the seal, pull the handle upward in a short, swift motion.
LifeVac will never push an object further into the airway. Its one-way valve ensures that air escapes through the vents on the device, and not into the victim, when the plunger is pushed. When you pull the plunger up, it creates suction to remove the obstruction. It can be used standing, sitting, or lying down — and even on yourself.
In a choking emergency, always:
- Call 911 immediately.
- Perform standard choking rescue protocols (5 back blows, 5 abdominal thrusts).
- Use LifeVac only if standard choking protocol has failed.
