Life Saved #2652

On August 5th, 2024, a 10-month-old girl choked on cardboard that she picked up off the floor resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed but was unsuccessful. LifeVac removed the obstruction on its second use. The child's mother describes the incident as follows:
“Baby was sucking on something. When I pulled her fingers out of her mouth to see what she was chewing on, I pulled out a big piece of hard cardboard-like material. She started gagging and I knew she was choking, possibly on a piece of the material she was chewing on. When I used the LifeVac she immediately started vomiting. That’s when I knew the object was out. I still rushed her to the hospital because she passed out in my arms. I think she passed out from the force she made when vomiting and crying when the object came out. I could still see her breathing. At the hospital, they worked fast and did a chest x-ray to make sure nothing was in her lungs. Thankfully she is still recovering and by the grace of God, and this amazing invention, she will make a full recovery. Definitely saved her life.” Maria A.
