On September 27th, 2026 a 3 year old boy choked on a peanut butter stuffed pretzel resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt! The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“My three year old son was given a peanut butter filled pretzel by a family member. Thankfully my aunt quickly realized he was choking (turning red, no noise, grabbing at his face). I immediately started protocols for choking - I am an adult and pediatric hospice RN. After one round of unsuccessful attempts at traditional protocols, I laid him down, tilted his chin up, and used the LifeVac. The pretzel immediately was visible in the back of his mouth and I was able to clear the pretzel and ball of peanut butter in under a minute and a half. I am so thankful I bought two LifeVac kits while pregnant. As soon as I told my husband to grab it, he immediately knew where it was, and we were able to act quickly and avoid serious complications. Our son is doing great, thankfully. We are just so relieved he is okay.”
