On September 20th, 2026 a 3 year old boy choked on sausage resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its third attempt. The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“Our son was eating breakfast and started choking. He got half of it up on his own and began choking again. He was trying to cough and get it up but then went completely quiet. I tried the Heimlich maneuver and was unable to dislodge the sausage, so my husband immediately got the LifeVac out of our diaper bag where it has lived for almost 3 years, unused. I laid my son down and we ripped the packaging open and I used it 3 times, then the remaining piece came up. My husband called 911 as I started using the device. They were at least 10 minutes away and the closest hospital is 15 minutes away - but our LifeVac already had the sausage dislodged and our son was breathing. He was petrified as we waited for the ambulance - EMS checked him and all of his vitals were good, it’s now been about 4 hours and he is running around playing and laughing. He wouldn’t be here without your device and I will be forever thankful for it. This device saved my son’s life”
