On July 7th, 2025 a 15-month-old girl choked on an orange resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the obstruction on its second attempt. The child’s mother described the incident as follows:
“We were at a splash pad when my daughter grabbed a piece of orange that I hadn’t cut yet. The skin was thick on it and she began choking. We tried a finger sweep and back blows, but it wasn’t until we used the LifeVac that she started breathing again. The piece of orange never came back up. It definitely saved her life! We’ve now purchased three units: one for our home, one for our car, and one for my mother who watches the kids. My cousin, who was at the pool, also had a unit in her car. In addition, another mom (whom we don’t know) ran to get her unit. The woman returned to my daughter first, and she initially used the device after which I took over.”
