On May 2nd, 2026 a 93 year old woman choked on a steak at Los Rios Rancho resulting in a total obstruction that left her unconscious. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its third attempt. A restaurant employee described the incident as follows:
“I purchased a number of LifeVac’s for our businesses and our vehicles. Today we needed one of them for a customer that was choking. I ran to grab the unit stored with our defibrillator. While I was grabbing it, a nurse who was nearby, and our staff, started the Heimlich but it did not help. The customer went unconscious and was lowered to the ground as I returned with the LifeVac. 3 pumps and the blockage was dislodged and came right out of her mouth. She regained consciousness within about 30 seconds. She immediately began breathing again and we made her comfortable while EMS arrived. We are in a remote area with about a 10 to 15 minute response time for EMS. Tools like these help us to save lives and stabilize things until EMS arrives. She was speaking a little to her family and her SP02 had jumped back up to 95% saturation by the time EMS arrived. Nothing else had worked so the LifeVac was absolutely the tool that saved her life.”
