On September 11th, 2025 an 84-year-old woman choked on a piece of meat resulting in a total obstruction that left her unconscious. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt! The woman’s daughter described the incident as follows:
“No other lifesaving techniques were working such as the Heimlich etc.… It was the only thing that worked. A true-life saver!!! My mom’s caregivers are still traumatized by the whole incident but are so grateful they had the LifeVac to administer to my mother.
My mom is doing better today. Her whole body is still sore from the multiple attempts to do the Heimlich on her. She was nervous about eating today, which is normal. Her caregiver gave her a soup today and she ate it all up. She’s is overall handling it much better than expected. She does have Alzheimer’s so perhaps since her memory isn’t the sharpest, she’ll hopefully forget about it soon.
I ordered another device immediately after the incident. We currently have one we keep in the car (for restaurants) so we moved it into the house. With the one you plan on sending, we will have 3.
