On August 23rd, 2026 a 9 month old boy choked on an earring resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its second attempt. The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“I feel like it saved my son from further medical intervention, possibly his life. It was a huge relief to get the object dislodged. My son is doing great now. He was basically immediately fine following the use of LifeVac. After using it, he needed just a little snuggle and he was back to his happy little self. I took him to get checked out just to be absolutely sure that the hook part of the earring wasn’t stuck somewhere. I was 80% sure that the earring he got a hold of was broken to begin with and didn’t have the hook part that goes into the ear, but I wanted to get an x-ray done just to make sure and to ease my mind. During the event my 5 year old assisted in holding him still to administer the LifeVac. We were so glad we had it and knew exactly where it was stored. It all happened in less than a minute I’d guess. I honestly think I held it together because I knew I had the LifeVac if the back blows didn’t work and that’s exactly what happened.
