Life Saved #6471

On August 8th, 2026 an 11 month old boy choked on Cheerios resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its second attempt! The child's mother described the incident as follows:

“On Saturday evening, my son was eating Cheerios in his highchair when he started choking. At first, I thought it would be like the several other times he had struggled with food—he would cough and work through it. But this time was different. After he struggled for what felt like far too long, my husband and I grabbed him from the highchair and began back blows. He started changing color and turning purple/blue. I quickly handed him to my husband, ran to grab our LifeVac choking rescue device, and grabbed my phone to call 911. We were both in a complete state of panic. Despite my medical training, nothing seemed to be working. Nothing prepares you for seeing your child in distress. The fear in his eyes, watching him quickly decline, and realizing he was struggling with everything he had and wasn’t making a sound—it was absolutely terrifying. We laid him down on a flat surface, I placed the LifeVac over his mouth, and after two plunges, the Cheerio came out. He could breathe again. I still get emotional thinking about what could have happened if we hadn't had that device. How long would it have taken 911 to arrive? What if we hadn't had another option in that moment. Our son is doing great, thankfully. Our family is so grateful for this company and device! ❤️”
