On August 29th, 2026 a 3 year old girl choked on a hair clip resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was not followed as the child was unconscious. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt. The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“I brought my daughter upstairs to put her down for her nap. She was laying there relaxing and ended up taking her hair out. She dropped a little metal round 1” flower hair clip and inhaled to cough at the same time. I heard noise so I went upstairs to say “GET TO BED!” and she was looking at me like a deer in headlights. She was bleeding from the mouth and her nose was running, it was horrible. She wasn’t doing good; she was losing color and I thought she was dead, or this was how she was going to die. I smacked her back and nothing happened so we used the LifeVac and thank GOD it worked!!!! She is doing great now. So glad we had LifeVac when we needed it most! She's my oldest and I don't know what I would do without her”
