On October 21st, 2025 a 50-year-old woman choked on a muffin at church bible class resulting in a total obstruction. The Heimlich was performed several times by a member of the group. LifeVac successfully dislodged the obstruction fully on its sixth attempt, though the first several attempts were able to remove some food. A woman from her bible study described the incident as follows:
“The muffin she was choking on was mush balled up in her throat; I truly believe the Heimlich and back blows, which were done several times, would not have dislodged it. By the time I got back with LifeVac, she was on the floor blue with no breath coming in or out. It took several attempts to fully clear the muffin. EMS did not arrive until 5 to 7 minutes after we got her breathing again. EMS had not heard about LifeVac but said the device absolutely saved her life and she most likely would not have survived without it. I will never be without a LifeVac from this day forward. I got several of these when my grandbaby was born and have been carrying it in my truck for almost 2 years.”
