On September 2nd, 2025 a 1-year-old girl choked on a goldfish cracker causing a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt! The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“My daughter was eating goldfish at the time of incident and had one get lodged. She started choking with no audible noise. After back thrusts she started turning blue in the face and my husband raced her to the location of our LifeVac. He laid her flat and used the LifeVac which immediately dislodged the goldfish, she started coughing and breathing again. It was our quick action and the LifeVac that I believe saved her life.
Our little lady is doing fantastic now! Thankfully it was a one-time occurrence and there was no permanent damage. I was so thankful to have LifeVac. Traditional methods were not working and we had to act quickly. I fear the worst if we would have been unsuccessful and without LifeVac - waiting for emergency response would have been detrimental. When I was gifted LifeVac for Christmas after having our first born - my husband thought it was a silly expense for "the likelihood of having to use it". I can say that my postpartum anxiety was calmed just knowing that we had LifeVac available in our home.
