On January 19, 2026, a 4-week-old baby girl choked on vomit resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the obstruction on its second attempt. The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“I laid my baby down in the middle of my bed to get her bassinet ready. I was turned around for literally 10 seconds. I turn back around and she’s got spit up coming out of her nose and mouth. I picked her up as usual and put her on my shoulder to pat her back and comfort her. I noticed she was wide-eyed and trying to breathe but couldn’t. I ran to grab my husband and yelled that she was choking. I tried back hits and abdominal thrusts. I tried sucking her nose out with my own mouth. Nothing worked and she was still not moving air or making any noise. She was still awake, extremely red, and wide eyes. My husband grabbed the LifeVac and I went to grab my phone to call 911. On my way back from grabbing my phone, I heard her crying after he made his second attempt with the LifeVac. We live 10 minutes from the closest EMS or fire station. I truly believe LifeVac saved her life.
She is doing well now. She is still spitting up but nothing like the choking incident, thankfully! We are so thankful that we had the LifeVac! I hope it finds others and convinces them to buy one! Even before this incident I had been asking my parents and in-laws to buy a LifeVac just in case; that event has them convinced now! Thank you for what you do!”
