On February 9th, 2026, a 6-year-old girl choked on a pretzel while in an airplane. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt. The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“My daughter has a rare disease called Sanfilippo Syndrome. It's like dementia in children. I have to give her small pieces of food because she has started choking due to her condition. We were flying from our home in Florida to Texas when she managed to grab a pretzel and put it in her mouth before I could stop her. She instantly started choking. I tried multiple sweeps and back blows, and nothing was working. Her face was turning bright red and I grabbed the LifeVac. She was sitting up and I placed it on her nose and mouth and only had to use it once to dislodge the pretzel. Thank you for helping me to save my child's life 32,000 feet in the air. She would have died if I didn't have this LifeVac. She is doing great now! She went back to her normal self-afterwards. Thank you so much for this product. It really did save her life yesterday.”
