On March 22nd, 2026 a 10-month-old girl choked on a charm from an ankle bracelet resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its second attempt. The child's father described the incident as follows:
“My wife saw my daughter put something in her mouth but could not detect it when inspected. The infant did not start choking until getting her pamper changed. The item was jagged and the size was less than half a dime. I used pediatric airway techniques to dislodge an unknown obstruction. The infant had been choking for approximately two minutes and was turning purple. The LifeVac device was then used, which successfully removed the object—later found in the bile she expelled.
Our daughter is doing well now. Our family is incredibly grateful that we had LifeVac on hand when we needed it most. Attached is a photo of our baby girl taken yesterday after a day at the park - we never thought that it could have been our last day with her. She is an identical twin, and in those terrifying moments, I couldn’t help but think about how differently things could have turned out—how her sister might have had to grow up without her. Today would have been a very different day for our family if we didn’t have your device. Because of it, she’s still here. Thank you for what you do.”
