On March 3rd, 2026, an 11-month-old boy choked on a blackberry resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt! The child's grandmother described the incident as follows:
“The baby initially grabbed a blackberry and took a small bite, but before his mom could intervene, he quickly grabbed the rest of the (larger) blackberry and put it in his mouth. She immediately tried to help by patting his back, but it wasn’t effective. When I looked at him, his eyes were tightly shut, and he was unable to make any sound or breathe. His color was beginning to change, becoming dusky and blue. Although only a few seconds passed before the LifeVac was used, it truly felt like an eternity. We are beyond thankful that we had the LifeVac available—it made all the difference. I believe that if we had not administered the LifeVac, it would have been a tragic situation.
