On March 3rd, 2026, an 11-month-old boy choked on a blackberry resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt! The child's grandmother described the incident as follows:
“The baby initially grabbed a blackberry and took a small bite, but before his mom could intervene, he quickly grabbed the rest of the (larger) blackberry and put it in his mouth. When I looked at him, his eyes were tightly shut, and he was unable to make any sound or breathe. His color was beginning to change, becoming dusky and blue. Although only a few seconds passed before the LifeVac was used, it truly felt like an eternity. We are beyond thankful that we had the LifeVac available—it made all the difference. I believe that if we had not administered the LifeVac, it would have been a tragic situation. We are incredibly grateful, thank you so much for this invention! I truly believe it saved his life.
