On May 18th, 2026, a 2-year-old girl choked on a nickel resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt! The childs mother described the incident as follows:
“My daughter got ahold of a coin and swallowed it without us knowing. I was in the kitchen cooking and turned around because I heard her coughing. By the time I got to her, she had her hand in her mouth trying to pry the coin out. I tried dislodging it with my fingers and back blows. Neither of those methods were working. Her eyes started rolling in the back of her head and she couldn’t breathe at all. I carried her to the kitchen where the LifeVac was and laid her down quickly but carefully and sucked out the coin. My baby probably wouldn’t have made it without this device. I am so grateful for this device. She is doing well now - it was a very scary experience. We are so grateful that we had the LifeVac. We have one at home and one in the car. I just wanted to share our story and express my gratefulness for this device. I don’t know what I would’ve done if we didn’t have this device.”
