Life Saved #6000

On May 23rd, 2026 a 1 year old boy choked on a nilla wafer resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt! The child's mother described the incident as follows:

“I was packing day bags for a family outing to a close friend's baby shower. I had stepped away from the kids in the front room for a couple minutes when my nine-year-old came running and yelling for help. My one-year-old son was choking on something that had to have fully obstructed his airway because he had his mouth open but couldn't cry or breathe. My daughter ran straight for our LifeVac that we keep at the front of the house, as I ran to the baby and started back blows. I was able to get him to gasp a little, but his lips were already turning blue. I laid him on the floor and administered the LifeVac with one attempt. He reacted to the suction and when he moved his head away, three pieces of a Nilla Wafer flew out and he immediately began to cry and gasp for breaths. His color started to come back, and his biggest sister cried with relief. I told her that she just helped to save her brother's life. Had we not had a LifeVac or taught them how to handle emergencies, this could have gone much worse. I thank you all again so much, from the bottom of our hearts. I can't thank you all enough for LifeVac. This is truly our safety blanket for our family.”
