On July 12th, 2026 an 11 month old boy choked on an acorn resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its third attempt. The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“Without a doubt, this device saved my 11-month-old sons life. My husband witnessed him pick up a small, immature acorn with attached stem from the floor and put it in his mouth. He immediately tried to retrieve it but was unable to get it out before he swallowed and began to choke. My husband ran inside to find me. Because I am a Registered Nurse, he knew he had to get our son to me instantly. After handing our infant over, my husband did not hesitate—he ran straight for our LifeVac, which we keep in a designated, easily accessible spot in our kitchen. Our son was in silent panic, desperately attempting to cough but unable to exchange any air, and he was rapidly turning purple and blue in the face. I immediately began administering back blows while my husband got the LifeVac ready. We laid him down to apply the device. Because of the squirming and the awkward, hard, circular shape of the immature acorn, it took three applications to fully clear his airway. Him to finally start making a crying sound as a tiny bit of air slipped past. The third and final plunge successfully pulled the acorn completely out of his throat. He instantly gasped, took a deep breath, and began crying normally. Within less than one minute, Jenson went from a life-threatening, complete airway obstruction to breathing safely in my arms. As a registered nurse, I know how fast these situations turn fatal. This device, combined with rapid teamwork, absolutely saved our son's life. I am so thankful for this product!”
