On August 22nd, 2025 a 22 month old girl choked on fruit resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the obstruction on its second attempt. The childs mother described the incident as follows:
“Thank you so much, we are very thankful and very grateful I had the LifeVac on hand. My daughter was eating fruit from a fruit cup which she has eaten plenty of times before. This time it seems like she didn’t chew the fruit and just tried to swallow. I noticed her choking and immediately flipped her almost upside down and started doing hard back blows. Once I flipped her around to look at her, I realized she was still choking and not making any sounds, she was silent. Me and my daughters father immediately ran to the room where we had the LifeVac and laid her down on the floor. We used the LifeVac once, I picked her up and hit her back again and nothing, she was still choking. I laid her down again and used the LifeVac for the second time, picked her up, and hit her back and the piece of fruit came flying out. During the whole emergency she was silent and only made a sound once like she was going to throw up but wasn’t able to. She is doing good now and is acting like nothing happened but I’m the one that was left traumatized.”
