On November 9th, 2025 a 16-month-old boy choked on cantaloupe resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt! The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“We were having a play date and a child a little older was eating cubed cantaloupe that was very large. I didn’t realize my son shoved 3 pieces in his mouth and must have swallowed without chewing them. The first 2 came out after many back blows and then his lips were turning blue/purple but I could still hear him crying/could tell he was breathing but there was a gurgling sound and lots of drool. The last piece was so huge (something I’d never purposely feed him) and I ran to the kitchen to get the LifeVac that I ordered before he was even born. I cannot express how fortunate I am to have had this device. It saved his life I believe. Thank you. I really am happy I had this, beyond words can express. My son is my life I can’t imagine losing him.
We went to the pediatrician today and his lungs sounded perfect and they noted just a little redness in his throat. He slept perfectly fine and never had any issues after using the LifeVac!
