On November 23rd, 2025, an 100-year-old woman choked on canned fruit resulting in a total obstruction that left her unconscious. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the obstruction on its third attempt. The woman's daughter described the incident as follows:
“My mom was sitting in her wheelchair at the table having her breakfast. She had just completed her breathing treatments with Albuterol Sulfate and Budesonide which help loosen phlegm in her lungs. She was eating a mixture of canned fruit cut into small pieces (she eats this every morning). Her face turned red, her eyes were closed and she was not able to breathe. Then her head, arms, and legs begin to shake. Back blows didn't dislodge the object so I used the LifeVac three times. She opened her eyes after the third time and appeared to be alright. This is the fifth time I have used this device to save my mother's life. I can't thank Mr. Lih enough for this LifeVac device; without this device my mother would not be alive.
