On February 16th, 2023 an 11 day old baby girl choked on mucus resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the obstruction on its second attempt. The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“My 11 day old baby started randomly choking one night. I thought she was just making baby noises until I looked at her - her jaw was clenched, her eyes were wide open, back kind of arched, and she was flailing. I didn’t know what was up so I immediately started beating her back but that wasn’t working. I tried to open her mouth but her lips were tightly closed. I told my husband to call 911 while I went to go scream for help from my neighbor who was outside. She came running in and grabbed the LifeVac that I forgot we even had and was able to get the spit up and mucus out of my baby’s mouth. The mucus that came out of her was thick and it may have been mixed with spit up. It was definitely a scary situation that I never want to experience again but I am thankful for your device.”
