On January 21st, 2026, an 8-month-old boy choked on Styrofoam resulting in a partial obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt! The child's mother (a RN) described the incident as follows:
“After 2 rounds of back thrusts the item was still not dislodged. We called 911 prior to trying LifeVac as my son was pale, gagging, and struggling to breathe. After LifeVac use, a small amount of blood and mucus came out of his mouth; I’m unsure whether it was from his airway or a cut from finger sweeps prior to use. Thank you for everything, hopefully this helps raise awareness and save a life.”
