On April 10th, 2026 a 1-year-old boy choked on a piece of chicken resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt! The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“It started with coughing then a complete blockage. I took him out of the chair and delivered back pats. I saw the chicken at the back of his mouth and tried back slaps again. The LifeVac was right next to our dining table for this reason. I laid him on the table and used it. He started crying and the chicken came out in one piece. Thank you!”
He is doing well now, happy little boy. Here is him this morning! Without the LifeVac it could’ve been a different story. Thank you for making this product and making it available with FSA purchase as well. Without my FSA card, I wouldn’t have been able to buy it.
When we first started solids, I kept it in my hand but as the months went on, I kept it in the kitchen next to our dining table. I show it to everyone who comes in. Having the LifeVac makes me feel so much safer and now that I’ve had to use it, I will never stop suggesting it to everyone.
When the back slaps were not dislodging the food stuck in his throat. It was so scary so of course, I forgot how to do it even though I had practiced multiple times. While I was twisting the mask on, I was able to look at the paper without losing any time and properly use it. The food came out on the first pull and he had immediate color change and started crying. Thank you for the relief, another day with my son, and everything you and your team do!!”
