On April 1st, 2026, a 3-year-old girl choked on pizza resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its second attempt. The child's mother described the incident as follows:
“If I didn’t have the LifeVac, I don’t think EMS would have made it on time. I believe she would have died. She was eating dinner, I looked over at her, and she was holding her neck. I ran over and started smacking her back, it did not help. I ran to my LifeVac which is carried in her diaper bag, put her on her back and used it on her twice. On the second time it dislodged. The choking did not last long, maybe 25/30 seconds. If I didn’t have a LifeVac my daughter may have died.”
