Life Saved #6347

On July 20th, 2026 a 10 month old boy choked on a frozen strawberry resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its first attempt! The child's mother described the incident as follows:

“Choking incident occurred Monday evening at dinner time in our home. Our son was sitting in his high chair and was just about done with dinner. He had popped his first tooth the day before so I gave him a frozen strawberry to chew on. The strawberry started to thaw and he was able to take chunks out. It got to the point where the strawberry was an awkward size and when I went to take it away from him, he shoved the whole thing in his mouth. He began choking not even a few seconds later. I immediately began back blows and abdominal thrusts but he was still struggling and not able to breathe/make noise. My husband called 911 and grabbed the LifeVac which was nearby. I used the LifeVac one time and he began making noise so I continued with more back blows and chest thrusts until I heard crying. I have since educated myself on the dangers of frozen fruit for his age, but wanted to thank your company for making this product that saved my son’s life.

Our son doing great now, and we are very thankful all is well after our incident. We feel very strongly about knowing what to do in case of a choking incident, along with how to properly use a LifeVac as well, and have been sharing our experience with other parents when we can. We again cannot thank LifeVac enough for providing such an important life saving product. I had included it on my baby registry and after no one bought it, it was the first purchase I made with the gift cards I received before he was born. I feel that was definitely God looking out for us and our family!”
