On July 26th, 2026 a 15 year old girl choked on pizza during a seizure resulting in a total obstruction. Protocol was followed. LifeVac dislodged the obstruction on its second attempt. The child's grandmother described the incident as follows:
“She was having a seizure so her dad performed the Heimlich until her mom was able to use the LifeVac. She wasn't out of the seizure completely when the LifeVac was used. The way I understand, the LifeVac got out what was still there. So between BOTH her dad performing the Heimlich and the LifeVac her life was saved. Having the LifeVac there in order to make sure her airway was clear was such a relief for her parents until EMS arrived.
After thinking about it, 40 years ago I had to use the Heimlich on my son who was choking on a piece of apple and about 11yrs ago on our grandson who had sucked coco puff cereal into his airway. I saw a LifeVac commercial after and knew we had to have it. My husband ordered 4 of them for us and for our 3 children. I hope I never have to use it of course, but I always have it with me just in case. Having the LifeVac close and ready is so wonderful.”
